"Just finished the concert in Hungary for THE MOST EXCITED crowd I’ve EVER been in front of. I don’t have words that can describe it." - Mark Lawry

"Wow, what an amazing crowd last night in Hungary. Both Hungarians and Romanians came together last night for the 8th (or 9th, not sure) concert on our European tour. They were an unbelievable crowd. The energy was nonstop. I almost died a few times afterward when I was meeting folks and signing shirts, CD's, DVD's, ticket stubs...and hands (hands are NOT easy to sign with a Sharpie). I didn't mind it, though, because everyone was so sweet and excited to be there. So, I guess if I were to be crushed under the weight of human bodies, this would be the best case scenario.
It was incredible to think about two groups of people coming together under the same roof for the same purpose, despite their differences. Our promoter for this concert told us that tension between Romanians and Hungarians has been very strong for quite some time. I guess we could relate it to all the racial tension in America that's existed for years. Not really sure why it exists, but it does...pretty stupid/ridiculous/petty (take your pick) when you think about it, huh?" - Wess Hampton
"There’s nothing like going home. This tour has been great. First of all, I love those with whom I traveled. I got to know everybody a little bit better. There weren’t any melt downs and I think everybody had a good time. But the highlight for me was singing for the Romanians. Their excitement was finally understood when I got a message from one of them who told me while they were under communist rule they would watch smuggled-in Gaither videos at their pastor’s home with pillows in the windows so the police wouldn’t catch them. They could get several years in prison if caught. They had to keep the sound very low. So to be able to worship in person with us, at full volume, was an experience they could only dream about a few years ago.
Now I’m headed home. I look forward to seeing my dogs and friends and eating egg rolls at my favorite Chinese restaurant." - Mark Lawry

"Well, I had a once in a lifetime experience to go Debrecen, Hungary (about 2hrs away) to the Gaither Homecoming European Tour and I really enjoyed it. There were about 30,000 people in attendance and the majority of them were Romanians" Sally Sebo
